CLF-SENSE Hari Raya Get-Together, 22 July 2015
On 22nd July 2016, MENDAKI SENSE (SENSE) alongside Community Leaders Forum (CLF) organised our yearly Hari Raya Get-Together.
This get-together in the joyous month of Syawal presented an opportune time for us to take a moment to reflect on the partnerships that were forged over the glorious month of Ramadhan.

Making SENSE of SkillsFuture (MSOS) Fair 2 Apr 2016
On 2nd April 2016, MENDAKI SENSE (SENSE) organised and lauched its first Making SENSE of SkillsFuture (MSOS) Fair. Guest of Honour, Mr Saktiandi Supaat, Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency, who is also the Advisor to Yayasan MENDAKI’s Future Ready Committee, graced the event.
Supported by our institutional and employability partners, the event became a distinct platform offering an array of skills-upgrading courses and employment opportunities. Besides the job opportunities offered by various employers, SENSE’s institutional partners also participated in this fair and shared relevant information about their respective sectors and expertise in a form of a seminar.
Before the launch of the MSOS Fair, we had the drawing of three pairs of AirAsia tickets for 3 of our lucky trainees registered in 2015 – one of the highlights from this event. A big congratulations to our three winners: Ms Junaida Noor, Ms Tan Kwee Huang, and Mr Mohd Iqbal Mohamed.

This MSOS campaign will be carried out throughout 2016 as a series of fairs and roadshow events all around Singapore. The objective is to reinforce the pivotal role that SENSE plays in encouraging a culture of lifelong learning and skills mastery, besides raising awareness about the SkillsFuture initiative amongst the community.

The S P E A K E R S E R I E S is an initiative by SENSE to empower and enrich the community through expert talks, inspirational ideas and actionable solutions on lifelong learning, innovation & entrepreneurship.
Three invited speakers came forth to share their experiences. They were Ms Azrina Tahar (Founder and Managing Director of Sufyaa Clothing), Mr. Imran Mohamed (Business Growth Expert) and Mr. Amir Chang (Senior Trainer, Business Development at SENSE).
A big thank you to also philantrophists among our entrepreneurs and community who believe in paying it forward— making it possible for students and adults to be part of our event hoping to be inspired & learn from our guest speakers.
MoU with MKAC

On 5 December 2015, SENSE held a Memorandum of Understanding with the Muslim Kidney Action Association (MKAC) to mark the launch and Life Long Learning Programme called Appreciating the Culinary Arts. It was held at the vicinity of MKAC witnessed by 30 odd attendees yearning to benefit from the programme by expanding their culinary skills taught by industry professionals. Champion of King Juara Memasak 2014 who is also the Head Chef at the Landmark was invited to showcase a 20-minute cooking demonstration class. Attendees got the opportunity to pick up some tips during the demonstration. We hope this collaboration will garner more interest among culinary dream catchers and ultimately benefit themselves in the future.
SENSE Graduation Ceremony & Launch of 'MASTARS'

On 22 August 2015, SENSE commemorated the achhievements of its trainees who have successfully attained the Professional Diploma in Leadership and People Management qualification and Advanced Certificate in Service Excellence. The ceremony saw a total of 75 graduands and was held at ITE College East. Guest of Honour, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs graced the event.
The momentous day also marked the launch of SENSE’s annual lifelong learning campaign, dubbed ‘MASTARS…Upskill, Upgrade, Uplift”. Aligned with WDA’s SkillsFuture initiative, the main aim of this campaign is to encourage workers to continually upgrade themselves, arming themselves with the relevant skills and competencies in order for them to remain relevant and competitive at the workplace. In line with this campaign, SENSE has distributed $50 training vouchers to each of the graduands as a token of appreciation for all their support throughout the years. Altogether, SENSE hopes to distribute 500 of these $50 Training Vouchers to participants who sign up for courses with SENSE.
SENSE Careers@Maritime Media Conference 18 Aug 2015
A year after embarking on a journey in the Careers@Maritime, SENSE held a media conference to mark the journeys of 10 trainees from the pioneer batch. These ardent individuals have successfully attained their Certificate of Competency Class 3 through a Cadet Ship Scheme via SENSE and have been placed into jobs.
Supported by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Careers@Maritime was launched in 2014 to increase the awareness of the opportunities in the Maritime industry among Singaporeans and bridge them with experts and employers. Just last year, SENSE has conducted a total of 10 Career Talks that gathered a total of 933 attendees. The programme will continue to sail for the next two years.
The Maritime sector spans across many skills requirements, job possibilities, choice of working hours and time commitment, salary range and diverse job types. There are also various sub-sectors that support the industry including, accounting, insurance and financing among others.
